FAIR IS OUR LAND

A Portrait of America

Designed and edited by Samuel Chamberlain

1942, Peoples Book Club, Chicago, 252 pages. Large size: 7-1/2 by 10-1/4 inches.

From the Dust Jacket, “The incalculable beauty which is America is here portrayed in infinite variety, and with superb discrimination, by some eighty outstanding American etchers and photographers…. Not a state-by-state encyclopedia of scenic wonder, but the picture of a peaceful America — staunch, serene and comforting. The American coastline, from Maine to Puget Sound…towns and villages…rich architectural inheritance…The farm…rivers, lakes, forests and waterfalls… mountains. Here the etcher’s needly and the photographer’s lens have caught them all.”

Enhanced by more than 375 black-and-white photographs and a few etchings.
