These Joystick extensions are part of our new simplified Genβ (Generation Beta) range and are designed to fit the Winwing Orion 2 Joystick Base and Grip ranges listed below in the compatability section and are ideal when using a centre mount.

New: Construction
The main 30mm diameter tube has been bulked up over our previous offerings with thicker walls and different printing enhancements to be able to cope with the extra forces invoked by strong spring settings. There are Anodised Aluminium Base and Grip Screws to aid with tightening and reduce significantly the rotation of grips when in use. The extension places the grip up and towards the pilot by the height and offset indicated in the model name (see picture 1 for naming convention examples).

New: Spring
We have found that adding an extension with an offset of 50mm or greater causes the grip to 'droop' towards the pilot. After considerable testing in-house and confirmation from our community testing team, we are now supplying a stronger spring for the Y-Axis on some of the extensions. For 50mm and 75mm offset we are supplying 1.2mm and 1.5mm springs respectively.

Unlike most others available, these extensions are fully hardwired allowing easy no-fuss swap out between joystick handles and extension/no extension modes1.

NOTE: Please measure the height/offset you need carefully before ordering, we cannot accept a return if you find you have not ordered the correct one.

The plug and the socket on the extension can be rotated to suit the orientation of the sockets and plugs on the Winwing original bases and grips. This is necessary as the rotation of the socket in some Winwing Bases differ from others, even the same models. DO NOT OVER ROTATE the plug and socket in the extension when aligning, just rotate enough to line them up properly. Spinning them round for laughs will break the wiring eventually causing failure.

IMPORTANT: Grub Screws cannot be used on these extensions as they will likely damage the threads.

For F-16 Enthusiasts!
There is a 40mm extension with a rake of 12° to tilt the grip forwards and is fully compatible with bases fitted with the Wiwning MFSSB kit.

Note: Pushing your joystick beyond it's movement limits with force may result in breaking the extension itself, particularly with the longer extensions.

Please remove the plastic antirotational washer from your base before fitting the extension. It is not supported or necessary as it will prevent the connection being made sucessfully.

* For 'Ace' type grips, the rubber washer for the grip is not required as the top interface is notched at 7.5° to suit the ridges in the base of the grips. The rubber washer at the base is required in all circumstances.

Notes

A. Extension Installation to Base

  1. If installed, remove the grub screw from the Knurled Base Screw on the base.
  2. Place one of the rubber washers on top of the mating surface on the base around the socket.
  3. Carefully align the plug on the base of the extension with the socket in the Winwing base. When aligned it should go in easily and the mating surfaces should be flat.
  4. Turn the extension to the desired orientation and hold in place. DO NOT over rotate the extension.
  5. Tighten the knurled base screw by hand, whilst holding the extension pole still. Make sure it is tight. .

B. Grip Installation to Extension

  1. For Grips with a smooth mating surface (no notches), place one of the rubber washers on top of the mating surface on the top of the extension around the socket.
  2. Pull the ps2 cord from the grip a little and carefully align the plug with the socket of the extension.
  3. Push the plug in to the socket. The socket will rotate to match the orientation of the ps2 cord plug as you put them together.
  4. Change the orientation of the grip to your desired angle. When aligned the mating surfaces should be flat.
  5. Turn the extension to the desired orientation and hold in place. DO NOT rotate the extension or the grip further, only turn the knurled screw.
  6. Tighten the knurled screw by hand, whilst holding the extension pole and grip still. Make sure it is really tight.

Note: This item is 3D printed. There will be obvious print lines on this product due to the nature of 3D printing. The colour of the base interface, plug and socket holder (not visible once installed) will vary depending on model chosen. We have colour coded them to make sure we send you the right one!
