Torque Test

The torsion force of a product is to demonstrate its ability to resist being twisted in half.   Various standards specify minimum requirements of torsion force for self-tapping screws.

This test is to clamp the screw into a chuck with tapping teeth in the middle of the torsional tester, and then apply force by hand with the torsion plate until the screw is broken.   If the torsion force does not exceed the specified minimum requirements, the product is not qualified. If unqualified show that the screw is too soft or the root diameter of the screw is too small.


Locking Test

This test is to lock the screw into a "test plate". The plate has specified hardness, thickness and aperture. If the screw locks through the test plate, but the screw is deformed, the product is not qualified. It unqualified show that the screw surface hardening treatment is too shallow or too soft.


Locking Torque Test

This test is only required for screw rolling screws.   When the locking test is performed, observe the maximum locking torque to the test plate. If the torque exceeds the specified standard value (the standard value depends on the size of the screw and the surface treatment), the product is unqualified.  If unqualified indicates that the surface of the screw is not sufficiently lubricated, or that the thread is improperly formed and requires greater torque.
