This exceptional antique Victorian Scottish sterling silver christening set consists of a presentation bowl and a spoon.

The impressive christening bowl has a cylindrical rounded form, modelled in the form of an antique cream pail.

This impressive antique christening bowl is embellished with embossed horizontal bands to the lower portion, and a broad band of engraved vertical pales encircling the rim.

The Victorian silver bowl is fitted with an impressive incurved handpiece to each side.

The interior of this cream pail style christening bowl retains the original gilding.

This exceptional set retains the original spoon, crafted in the Old English pattern.

The surface of the spoon is plain and unembellished and features a pip to the anterior of the handle terminal.

These examples of Victorian silverware are fitted to the exceptional and very impressive, original hinged leatherette box with satin and velvet lined interior, securing with a push fit catch.

The interior of the box bears the retailer's mark 'By Appointment, Hamilton & Inches, Edinburgh'.

This impressive antique silver cream pail style bowl is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.

The set has been professionally polished and is in presentation condition.

The original box is also in presentation condition.

Full hallmarks struck to the underside of the bowl are clear; the maker's mark is weakly struck and legible under an eye glass.

The full Scottish silver hallmarks to the reverse of the spoon are all very clear.
