"Discovering Nagata Yuji, Unsung Maike Master"


NTRODUCTION:

This catalogue was published on the occasion of the exhibition

 "Discovering Nagata Yuji, Unsung Maike Master" 

at Miho Museum in 2019.


The Edo period craftsman NAGATA Yuji was a unique maki-e artist who created beautiful maki-e works and signed his work to indicate that he was the successor to OGATA Korin. However, his career is shrouded in mystery. As research on him has progressed in recent years, this exhibition was held with the intention of collecting, organizing, and exhibiting as many of his works as possible and uncovering new historical materials.

The catalog includes approximately 70 maki-e works by NAGATA Yuji and two essays by IWAI Tsugio, a researcher on NAGATA Yuji. All content is translated into English.


Comments from us

Although we could not visit this exhibition, we saw some of Nagata's maki-e works at this year's "Kaiseki no Utsuwa" exhibition at the Miho Museum. The works were of high quality lacquerware with contemporary and sophisticated designs, and were very eye-catching. 

We highly recommend this catalog to any lacquerware enthusiast or anyone interested in Rimpa designs.

We send a product by International registered mail or Yamato Transport International TA-Q-BIN. We attach the tracking number. It will take 7-10 business days normally to arrive (Sometimes delay of delivery because it takes more time at customs.)  If you purchase the items (2 or more), we can ship them (items) together. After the usual payment procedure, we will refund the difference in shipping fee.



RETURN:
