1756 Scientific Letters GALILEO
Physics Comets Italian Vellum Lorenzo Magalotti
Lorenzo Magalotti was a 17th-century Italian scientist known
for his philosophical treatises, his studies of Galileo, and translation of
Milton’s “Paradise Lost”. While these contributions were important, he also
wrote a series of scientific letters which were first published in the 18th-century.
These letters offer descriptions of his physics experiments including his
experiments on light, testing Galileo’s theories, the effects of cold and snow,
blood circulation, and even his observations on the 1664 comet.
