NEW YORK CITY - Richmond Hill, NEW YORK - Congregational Church - 1911 - Queens County: Richmond Hill is a commercial and residential neighborhood located in the southwestern section of the New York City borough of Queens. The area borders Kew Gardens and Forest Park to the north, Jamaica and South Jamaica to the east, South Ozone Park to the south, and Woodhaven and Ozone Park to the west. Richmond Hill is known as Little Guyana for its large Indo-Caribbean American (especially Indo-Guyanese and Indo-Trinidadian) population. It’s also called Little Punjab due to its large Punjabi American population. Richmond Hill is home to a density of Sikh, Roman Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, Protestant, Hindu, Jewish, and Muslim places of worship. The Union Congregational Church was organized in 1884 with an inaugural service at Association Hall, located in a loft over a store. Within two years, the society purchased a new frame building on Park Street for their services. In 1893, the close proximity of steam and electric roads caused such disturbances that the church began to search for a new location. In 1902, the society built a new church at 86-15 114th Street. In November, 2008, the building became home to the Global Christian Ministries Church, a Pentecostal congregation.
