What is Hypafix® Tape?

Hypafix® Dressing Retention Tape is a self-adhesive, non-woven fabric sheet for dressing retention. It retains the primary dressing on small to large wound sites and is ideal to use on areas of the body requiring flexibility. It also secures catheters, tubes, and instruments quickly and easily, even in hard-to-tape areas.

5 Reasons to buy Hypafix Tape

  1. The soft, stretchable non-woven polyester material adapts well to body contours
  2. Provides light compression without causing constriction or congestion
  3. Radio-transparent to eliminate the need to remove for x-ray examinations
  4. 100% latex-free components eliminate the risk of latex reactions
  5. Easily cut to size to eliminate waste

Why choose Hypafix® Dressing Retention Tape?

  • Wide Area Fixation: This general wide-area fixation tape firmly secures on all sides. Does not slip or become detached thanks to the skin-friendly and reliable adhesive with a soft, pliable backing.
  • Air & Moisture Permeable: Hypafix fabric is air and moisture permeable to allow breathability and reduce the risk of skin maceration.
  • Radio Transparent: Hypafix's radio transparency allows for radiotherapy or X-ray examinations without removing the patient's bandage.
  • Atraumatic Removal: The gentle yet secure polyacrylate adhesive is well tolerated even by patients with sensitive skin and allows painless bandage removal.

What Are The Benefits Of Leukoplast® Hypafix® Dressing Retention Tape?

  • The stretch and conformability of Hypafix allows the patient greater freedom of movement
  • Wide-area fixation of the wound dressing reduces the risk of contamination

When to use Hypafix® Tape?

  • Retains primary dressing on small to large surgical or wound sites
  • Ideal use for areas of body requiring flexibility such as elbows and knees
  • Ideal base coverage for areas applying the patellofemoral taping technique
  • Dressing retention in particular of large post-operative wound dressings, gauze and absorbent compresses

  • Ideal for securing catheters and other tubes and instruments

How to use Hypafix® Dressing Retention Sheet?

  1. Firstly, make sure that the skin is clean and dry.
  2. Unroll the desired length of tape from the roll.
  3. Select the amount needed and cut with scissors using the grid-lines guideline on backside.
  4. Hypafix has a split liner for easier removal of the backing. Peel away both the pieces from the entire length of the tape.
  5. Stick the adhesive tape securely around the dressing. Adhesive can be easily removed without major pain or discomfort.
*What is Mercy Medical Surplus?
Generally, this is overstock medical supplies from the pharmacy or the warehouse.   All of it is still sealed, brand new and sterile (or clean depending on package type) with long expiration dates.  The OUTSIDE packaging can be damaged, have sticker residue, etc.  If we get a shipment in that has pharmacy labels on in it, especially, patient information we remove those labels.  We use three methods, steam, Goo-Gone and alcohol.

We always start with the least abrasive, steam.  Occasionally, the adhesive is so strong that steam alone will not remove it…so we step up to Goo-Gone…this WILL break down the adhesive, but sometimes causes additional damage  to the box. We use very little…just enough to remove it.  Which means occasionally, some pieces of the label may be left behind.  But never patient or pharmacy information.

Unfortunately, some boxes come in damaged to begin with, or the adhesive would not lift.  The product inside is undamaged and ready and SAFE to use.  If ever the actual product is damaged, we toss it in the trash.   Just be aware the outer box may be damages, have sticker or label residue, black marker etc.   But the product inside is BRAND NEW, CLEAN or STERILE depending on the product's original packaging.

Because of COVID and due to these being medical, we are unable to accept returns or refunds.  However, if you ever have a question or a concern, please contact us.  We will work with you for the very best possible solution.

Medical Surplus is usually sold at way under market value.  For example, some wound dressings may sell for as high as $60 or $70  per box.  We sell the exact same product for around $10 or $15, and we pay the shipping.

Your order will usually never contain more than 50% with box damage.  Most of your order will arrive looking brand new.   If there is room in  the box, we will toss in an extra box or some other bonus.

We want this to be a great experience for you…one where you receive the greatest value.  Remember, we are here to serve you.  Please contact us ASAP if we can be of service.

Thank you so much…All the very best to you and yours.
