They are beautiful buttons in jet (opaque black) color. The front side is domed in the center with a texture that spirals or radiates outward.
The back side has a glass shank that is molded into the button.

Each button is individually hand pressed in a hand held mold (like a
little waffle iron) from hot molten glass.
Traditionally the molds are made and then handed down
from father to son, to son...
All of our Czech buttons came from a high end supplier in
NYC's garment center that catered to top designers.
We were fortunate to purchase these when he retired.
