This plate was used at American Woman's Club located at 353 West 57th Street in New York City, built in 1929. It served as a residence for working women. Sponsored by Anne Morgan, daughter of J. P. Morgan, she used her inheritance to advance causes of social justice for women. The building later became the henry Hudson Hotel, for both men and women. Lots more history available online.

Measuring approx. 7 3/4 inches in diameter, the plate features a multi-colored floral design around the rim, which was also used by the Empire State Club. The plate features an additional floral design in the well, all on an ivory body. No chips or cracks, moderate utensil use. Although the backstamp reads American Women's Club, the name was actually American Woman's Club. Scammell China manufactured this piece prior to 1930, according to the backstamp. Interesting piece of NYC history.
