The DriveRack 480 from dbx is a loudspeaker management system that can be set-up for virtually every aspect of loudspeaker management and equalization. The four-input, eight-output, four-channel unit includes comprehensive processing on every channel's input and output, including graphic or parametric equalization, crossovers, speaker delays and dbx dynamic processing.
A large LCD display provides the user with all the information needed to set-up signal routing, configuration modes, effect block editing, and to display the RTA results. Dedicated LED ladders are provided for every input and output, along with individual mute switches for each output. A twelve button matrix and three encoder controls simplify navigation around the unit.
Aside from the front panel, the user can also program and control the unit via Windows based software. Additionally, up to one-hundred units within the DriveRack series can be connected and controlled on a network, if required. Dual, real-time analyzers can be run on channels three and four, utilizing optional RTA microphones. The unit supplies +48V phantom power for this purpose.
By including every form of processing necessary to drive the signal from a mixer to a power amplifier, the DriveRack 480 allows the engineer to eliminate all other processing devices that were previously required in large audio systems. Aside from the XLR connectors, the unit provides MIDI In, Out and Thru, and both DB-9 and RJ-45 connectors for receiving and passing on information to other units on a network.
