Ork Kommandos represent the pinnacle of Ork "kunnin'," the less-common trait of the Ork psyche that compliments their overwhelming "brutal" nature. While most Orks prefer a direct, loud, and spectacular charge, Kommandos get their kicks from sneaky warfare, ambushes, and striking fear into the enemy before the main WAAAGH! arrives.
Often associated with the Blood Axes Clan (who are notorious for adopting "un-Orky" tactics like tactical retreats and camouflage), Kommandos employ soot-blackened weapons, wear rudimentary camouflage (sometimes just stripes of mud and blood), and move through cover. Other Orks view their sneaky ways with suspicion, yet no Warboss is foolish enough to refuse the havoc a Kommando mob can sow behind enemy lines. Their most famous leader is Boss Snikrot, a name synonymous with terror among the Imperium forces who have faced his Red Skull Kommandos.
Ork bits are the ultimate currency for kitbashers, and Kommando parts offer unique flair for various units:
Ork Boyz Upgrade: Use Kommando heads (especially the masked and bandanna ones) to give regular Ork Boyz a veteran or specialized look.
Tankbustas: The extra explosives, pouches, and dynamic charging poses from Kommando bodies and arms can be used to add more character and equipment to your Tankbusta mobs.
Lootas/Flash Gitz: The various mechanical and high-tech-looking guns and accessories can be repurposed or added to Lootas to represent salvaged or "looted" gear.
Custom Nobz/Characters: The more detailed arms, hands, and unique gear can be used to create custom Warbosses, Nobz, or even an Ork Weirdboy with a more sneaky, tribal vibe.
'Eavy Weapons: Strapping the Kommando's Burnas and Rokkit Launchas onto regular Ork Boyz or even onto a Trukk/Battlewagon can add immediate character.
