Like the adult version released on January 28th, 2017, the Air Jordan 12 Retro PS 'Chinese New Year' 2019 is impossible to miss, featuring a unique multi-colored upper as tribute to the Year of the Pig. Tinker Hatfield originally created the AJ 12 to resemble Japan's Rising Sun flag. The combination of influences from two great Asian cultures—the sun-ray stitching of Japan and colorful montage of quilted Chinese art—adds to the harmony of the revolutionary design.
The Air Jordan XII was originally released in 1996. Like many Air Jordan sneakers, its design inspiration came from outside the world of basketball. In this case, it was the Japanese Rising Sun flag, with the stitching on the side panels representing the sun's rays. The Air Jordan XII was also the first Air Jordan to feature Zoom Air technology and sport the "TWO 3" style on the tongue.
