Besant begins with histories of the Chanson, Rutebeuf (the troubadour) and "The Romance of the Rose;" subsequently profiled are Eustache Deschamps, Rabelais, Montaigne, "La Satyre Menippee," Mathurin Reginer, Saint Amant, Isaac de Benserade & Vincent Voiture, Sarasin and Boisrobert, Scarron, La Fontaine, Boileau, Moliere, Regnard, Gresset, Beaumarchais, and Beranger.
Green, pebbled cloth boards. Black and gilt stamping on front board and spine. Front board decorated with a gilt-tooled marotte. Overall clean & attractive book with interesting literary and historical prose.

Condition Details: This item is in Good condition. Some light toning to page edges. Others may show foxing or small marks. The binding is intact and without major issue: there is some cracking at front hinge with exposed netting, but boards/spine seem firm and in place. External wear as shown. Some fraying to edges. Boards are sturdy. Please see photos as they are a part of this description!
