Q & A
Q: Why is this battery so expensive?
A: Because lead acid batteries that fit within the envelope of the Powerbook 100 are no longer available it is necessary to use another type of battery, I have designed a circuit that makes this conversion possible. This battery uses two Lithium Polymer cells and incorporates internal Lipo charging circuitry.
Q: Does this replacement battery come with an external cover?
A: The replacement battery does not come with an external cover, the cover from the original battery is utilized. Gently remove it by slightly opening up the latch on the left side of the original battery with pliers or another suitable tool, the original cover does not attach to the new battery, instead it clicks onto the laptop to hold the battery into place.
Q: Are there any limitations of the new design battery?
A: The new design
battery mostly operates like the original, the power meter has been
found to be mostly accurate and will give ample warning of low
battery and charge state. This battery can be charged by the laptop
as well as the standalone charger. The charging process is automatic
when the power adapter is connected, the only limitation is that when
the battery is charged and one wishes to disconnect the power adapter
the laptop should be shut down to remove the power adapter. If the
power adapter is disconnected while the laptop is running no damage
will occur but the laptop will reboot.
