Mount Zion Baptist Church Plate, Peoria, Illinois
Cream-colored plate measures about 10 1/2 inches in diameter and has a gold rim around the edge of the plate. A dark red view of the church on the face of the plate. Beneath the picture are the words "Mount Zion Baptist Church Peoria, Illinois." Peoria is in Peoria County IL.
On the back of the plate is a logo of the world and a paint brush and the words "World Wide Art Studios A Division of Atlas Crystal Works, Inc. Covington Tennessee" -- all in black.
Also stamped in green under glaze is a crown and the words "Myott, Son & Co. Ltd. Made in England H."
Also printed under glaze in black is the following paragraph: "Mount Zion Baptist Church was organized April 27, 1879 on Green Street, in the home of Mrs. Emma Butler. The first church edifice occupied by the congregation was located at Seventh and State streets. On May 8, 1925, the congregation moved into the present edifice, located at the corner of Fourth and Sheridan, under the pastorate of Rev. L. A. Weaver. The present pastor is Rev. R. Wendell Phillips."
Plate is in very good condition. Two worn spots on the gold rim.
