Sakamichi Onada ialah seorang pelajar baru sekolah tinggi yang bersifat pengecut dan gemar animasi. Asalnya dia mahu menyertai kelab animasi tapi akhirnya menyertai kelab berbasikal selepas bertemu dua rakan kelas yang terkenal sebagai pelumba basikal. Dia menjalani latihan yang melelahkan untuk bertanding, dan berjaya mencungkil bakatnya dalam sukan lumba basikal.

Sakamichi Onada is a wimpy high school freshman who loves anime. He initially wants to enter the anime club, but winds up joining the cycling club after meeting two classmates who are already famous cyclists. He undertakes the grueling training to compete in races, and discovers his own hidden talent in cycling.
小野田坂道一一一个身材瘦小、戴著眼镜、个性有点柔弱的御宅族高中生。过去的学生生活，因为没有碰到相同喜好的人，所以立志在上高中后一定要加入动漫研究社．．不过没想到少社团却因为人数不足而被废除了，如果要重新活动的话必须凑齐五名社员才行。就在这个时候，在中学时有著辉煌成绩的自行车手一一今泉俊辅，却在偶然看过小野田骑车爬上陡坡的情形后、就向他提出了比赛的要求，并同意如果小野田获胜的话他就加入动漫研究社。
