This is a collection bound volumes of the First Five Volumes of "Littell's Living Age" magazine. Edited and compiled by E. Littell and published by E Littell & Co., Boston (Later published by T.H. Carter & Co., Boston). Littell's Living Age was a weekly magazine that was published for almost 100 years. The editors scanned the major publications of America and Britain and reprinted literary, political, historical and general interest pieces that would be of interest to American readers. Many significant literary pieces were serialized in these magazines. In the grouping are bound volumes I (April 11-Aug 3, 1844), II (Aug 10-Oct 26 1844), III (Nov 3-Dec 28, 1844), IV (Jan-Feb-March 1845), and V (April_may-June 1845). Volumes are bound in half leather. Wear evident to leather corners and bases of spines. Some edgewear noted to paper over board covers. Internally clean, tight. Quite sound. The volumes measure 6 3/4 X 9 3/4. These early complete volumes can be found on other internet booksites for upwards of $100 EACH!!
