One of the exciting 2006 issues, the Disney Cars Series features four characters: Mater the Tow Truck, Lightning McQueen, Sally the Porsche, and Doc Hudson. Mater first came out with a completely painted inside hood area. As production expanded, the next batch only had the air filter painted, so there are two variations of Mater. There are other variations on the other cars. In 2011, the Cars were redesigned and added Finn McMissle to the group. Lightning McQueen had been on a 4.9 Hungary stem, but the 2011 version changed to a 5.9 China Stem and a decal was placed on the hood. Then PEZ came out with a unique offering of a magnetic, detachable car they labeled "Pull & Go!" There are magnets in both the car and the base (which is a big wheel) so they can stay together. You can detach the car, move it backward on a flat surface then let go and watch it go. The "Pull & Go!" feature can be found with special packages of Lightning McQueen, Mater, and Finn McMissle. Following two successful animated films about Cars, Disney-Pixar came out with Planes, featuring Dusty the crop duster who had visions of winning a big race. In 2013, PEZ issued a two character "Planes" series in non-American markets with Dusty the crop duster and his nemesis, the Mexican El Chu (El Chupacabra). In 2014, because of a new movie, a second European Planes series was issued (adding Dipper and Blade Ranger) and the first two (Dusty and El Chu) were released in United States. |
