The Scottish Yeomanry Shoulder Titles

This Auction is for a pair of Shoulder Titles as formerly worn by The Scottish Yeomanry.

Formed on the 1st November, 1992, they were the only Yeomanry Regiment north of the Border.

Brand new and unissued pair of Brass metal Shoulder Titles, complete with their mounted pins and brass butterfly clips. 

An highly collectable pair of Titles, which will no doubt increase in value. 

Guaranteed new and unissued and in mint condition. 

Brief Regimental History

The Scottish Yeomanry (Scots Yeo) was a Yeomanry Regiment of the British Territorial Army from 1st November, 1992 to 1 July, 1999 when it was amalgamated with the Queen's Own Yeomanry (QOY).

The Scottish Yeomanry was a four Squadron Long Range Reconnaissance Regiment equipped with communications Land Rovers, having the whole of Scotland as its area of responsibility.  

Headquarters at Colinton Road, Edinburgh with Squadron from The Queen's Own Yeomanry and elements 153 (Highland) Regiment, Royal Corps of Transport (Volunteers) and 154 (Lowland) Regiment, Royal Corps of Transport (Volunteers).

Squadrons:
HQ (Lothians and Border Horse) Squadron at Colinton Road, Edinburgh. Formed by conversion of 225 (Queen's Own Lowland Yeomanry) Squadron, 154 (Lowland) Regiment, RCT (V).

A (Ayrshire (Earl of Carrick's Own) Yeomanry) Squadron at Ayr. Formed by transfer of 'A' Squadron, The Queen's Own Yeomanry.

B (Lanarkshire and Queen's Own Royal Glasgow Yeomanry) Squadron at East Kilbride. Formed by conversion of 222 Squadron, 154 (Lowland) Regiment, RCT (V).

C (Fife and Forfar/Scottish Horse) Squadron at Cupar. Formed by conversion of 239 (Highland Yeomanry) Squadron, 153 (Highland) Regiment, RCT (V).

On 1st November, 1998 under the Government "Strategic Defence Review" it was announced that The Scottish Yeomanry be disbanded, but two of its Squadrons, 'A' Squadron (The Ayrshire Yeomanry) in Ayr and  'C' Squadron (The Fife and Forfar) in Cupar were to become 'A' Squadron and 'C' Squadron respectively in The Queen's Own Yeomanry, which it's Regiment now comprises Headquarters in Newcastle, with Squadrons in Ayr, Cupar, York and Belfast.

The Queen's Own Yeomanry equipment comprises light tracked vehicles and the role of 'A' (The Ayrshire Yeomanry) Squadron is Armoured Reconnaissance Training. These changes came into effect on the 1st July, 1999.

  Uniform

The Scottish Yeomanry wore a grey beret of the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards bearing a cap badge of the regiment consisting of the Lion Rampant of Scotland upon crossed Lances under the Scottish Crown.
The officers and men of the regimenty wore the Duke of Atholl's Tartan, in various forms of dress. 

Stable Belt Colours

The Scots Yeo regimental stable belt which was adopted was a reversed version of the Ayrshire Yeomanry's stable belt. This looked exactly like the 15th/19th The King's Royal Hussars' belt.

Cadets

Now The Scottish Yeomanry's name is only continued by the Army Cadet Force who were affiliated to C Sqn of the Scottish Yeomanry.
