SPEEEDFINS
are a patented surfboard fin system invented and developed in
Australia.
They are a break through in
performance enhancing Surfboard Fins. The unique design enables the
trailing edge to respond to applied pressure allowing the fins to
become “alive” responsive and rudder like. This movement
maintains the laminar water flow around the fins, reducing drag and
turbulence, increasing speed, maneuverability and performance.
SPEEEDFINS
differ from all other fin systems in that the fin is attached to the
board only at the front half of the fin base. This innovation allows
the back of the fin to deflect under pressure thus eliminating drag
during turns. The SPEEEDFINS system is
also unique in that it is the only system that allows the fins to be
inserted and removed without the need of a tool, the fins simply snap
in and out of the fin box in the board.
Fitting SPEEEDFINS
to any size and shape of board delivers increased power, lift, drive
and holds and turns are faster, tighter and smoother. In addition
SPEEEDFINS are quicker and easier to fit
than any other system and can be easily retro fitted to any existing
board.
SPEEEDFINS
single fin box system provides increased lateral support without
interfering with the deck and speeedfins clip in and out without the
need of screws and tools.
SPEEEDFINS
are currently available in a choice of Materials and Sizes. A
Fibreglass Impregnated Nylon with Medium Flex and a more Rigid
Hi-Tech Carbon-Ceramic Material. Extra SPEEEDFINS
are available in individual fins and tri-sets.
World Champion Mick Fanning,
one of the world’s top pro surfers initially formed a working
partnership with SPEEEDFINS, the new
Australian surf company that designs and manufactures the
revolutionary range of free moving ‘active’ surfboard fins. After
surfing on the SPEEEDFINS range,
Fanning’s response was definitive: “SPEEEDFINS
are the best removable fin system I’ve ever used”.
SPEEEDFINS
and James Cheal owner of the "Chilli" brand of surfboards
also announced the release of their jointly developed fin template.
Based on James’ years of
experience working with the likes of world champion Andy Irons,
brother Bruce and countless other WCT riders, the SPEEEDFINS
"Chilli"
Barton Lynch – Former World
Champion The flex and give in the fins means that between my turns I
am getting more momentum instead of it being stop starting.
Danny Wills – Former WCT
rider The 7’6” board I had in Hawaii with SPEEEDFINS
was without doubt the best board I have ever ridden in Hawaii.
Mitchell Rae – Master shaper
and design innovator, SPEEEDFINS self
aligning trailing edge allows the fin to track with the water flow
through the tightest arcs maintaining laminar flow or traction
delivering speed and whip out of turns far beyond the stall or spin
out point of conventional fixed fins.
George Greenough – Legend and
Icon. A thruster has three fins going in three different directions
which creates substantial drag and loss of speed because at least two
of the fins are constantly out of alignment with the water flow.
With a self-aligning rear edge
speed is significantly increased because the fins are allowed to
respond to the water pressure and continually move into an improved
alignment with the water flow.
When the rear edge of the fin
responds to the water pressure against it, higher speeds are
achieved, turns are initiated easier and the board becomes less prone
to spinning out. While the spring like effect of the “loaded up”
rear edge can be used to generate more speed, more drive and more
lift through turns. They’re on to something here.
