The idea of presenting these "concert tidbits" on a single tape originated with Frans Brüggen. The pieces are various, tricky virtuoso and spectacular short works or parts of larger ones — both familiar and unfamiliar music. After the scheduled part of his concerts. Frans customarily dashes them off with reckless extravagance for the enthusiastic audience.

I know most of these encores from almost 25 years of close collaboration (from rehearsals, production breaks, after recording sessions) whether for relaxation or wind-up. This recording vividly reminds me of all the concerts I attended: in San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York, Amsterdam, Munich, Vienna, Rome. It brings back the joy of witnessing the concert-goers' appreciation of Frans Brüggen's unmistakable, fascinating flute artistry.
