XL Mylar Packet - Golden Hubbard Winter Squash Seeds
Gold Vault Mylar Zip Packet

Of a traditional teardrop shape, this large squash is said to be the most stunning of the Hubbard type, with warted red orange skin. The flesh is on the dry side, well suited to preserving or roasting. Keeps well over the winter.

The story is told that Elizabeth Hubbard, a washerwoman for the Gregory family in Marblehead, Massachusetts, gave her employer the seed for an heirloom squash. J. H. Gregory immediately named the squash "Hubbard," saying that Mrs. Hubbard was "a good, humble soul, and it pleases me to think that the name of such a one had become, without any intent of hers, famous." The Golden Hubbard was introduced by D. M. Ferry in 1898, after being obtained from J. J. Harrison of Storrs & Harrison Company of Painesville, Ohio.
