Excellent JACKS REEF CORNER NOTCHED point that measures 2 1/8" long by 13/16" wide. Jacks Reek Corner Notched points are from the Woodland period dating in the 1,500 to 1,000 BP range. These were primarily used with the bow and arrow during the early transition over from spears. Larger examples were probably still spear tips. They are considered one of the earliest true arrow points. Material is a beautiful piece of Hornstone flint. This one was found in North Alabama, in the Limestone/Morgan/Madison Counties area. This is a classic example, thin and finely made. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me.
This point was from the collection of Jerry Dickey from Lynchburg, Tennessee. It was sold to Joseph Shepler of Latrobe, Pennsylvania. John Byrd of Piedmont, South Carolina acquired it from Mr. Shepler late 1990's. I bought it from Mr. Byrd in 1998 and it has been in my collection since. This is a beautiful 100% Authentic example of a just about perfect point, and it will come with my artifact sheet. Buy only real, authentic artifacts!
