Original The Phantom of the Opera West End production Auctioneer’s top hat, dating from approximately 2003–2006 at Her Majesty’s Theatre, London.

A genuine piece of theatrical wardrobe from the long-running West End production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera.

The hat is associated with Philip Griffiths, who played Monsieur Reyer/Auctioneer in the production. I personally worked in wardrobe and dressed Philip Griffiths, so this identification comes from my first-hand experience of the production.

The hat is tall and matt black, with some misshaping and visible make-up marks consistent with its history as a theatrical costume piece. It has no surviving label.

This is an original production wardrobe item, not a modern replica or a newly manufactured fancy-dress hat. It would make an interesting addition to a Phantom of the Opera collection, theatre memorabilia display or theatrical costume archive.

Condition: Used, with visible make-up marks and some misshaping. Please examine all photographs carefully.

Provenance: From the original West End production wardrobe, retained during a cast change.

A rare opportunity for a Phantom of the Opera enthusiast or collector to own a piece of London theatre history.

Condition is used and it’s out of shape but is still a wonderful piece of history. Great for Halloween or a Christmas production of A Christmas carol! Please look at photos sold as seen
