SCHNEIDER KREUZNACH APO-DIGITAR 150mm f/5.6 N-40° MC

NEW / OPEN-BOX — CUSTOM PRECISION-ENGINEERED SONY E-MOUNT PHOTOGRAPHIC SYSTEM

German Apochromatic Optics | Genuine Pentax 67 Helicoid | Precision Novoflex Components | Custom-Machined Interface | Adaptable Multi-Lens Platform

AN EXCEPTIONAL PHOTOGRAPHIC INSTRUMENT

An exceptional opportunity to acquire a new, German-made Schneider Kreuznach APO-Digitar 150mm f/5.6 N-40° MC, integrated into an independently conceived, precision-engineered Sony E-mount photographic system.

This is not an ordinary adapted lens or a collection of unrelated photographic accessories. It is the result of a carefully conceived personal engineering project, integrating Schneider's distinguished apochromatic optics, original Asahi Pentax 67 precision focusing equipment, German-made Novoflex adapters, a Fotodiox mounting interface, and a specially fabricated, precision-machined brass coupling ring.

The custom brass component was manufactured specifically to fit inside the Fotodiox adapter, providing an essential mechanical connection within the lens mounting assembly.

An equally significant advantage is the system's adaptable architecture. The precision Pentax helicoid and Novoflex mounting assembly offer the potential to accommodate other compatible large-format lenses, provided their optical registration and mounting requirements are satisfied. Appropriate precision coupling components may be required for different lenses.

Consequently, the purchaser acquires not merely an exceptional Schneider lens, but a sophisticated and potentially reusable mechanical focusing platform whose usefulness need not be confined to a single optical instrument.

Every component was purchased brand-new exclusively for this personal engineering project. Following assembly, the instrument underwent limited functional and photographic evaluation to assess the optical performance, focusing arrangement, and effectiveness of the integrated system. The evaluation confirmed the success of my original engineering concept and demonstrated the exceptional optical qualities of the Schneider lens within the completed Sony E-mount system.

The equipment has never been placed into regular photographic service, employed for field assignments, or subjected to the wear associated with conventional photographic use. It has been carefully preserved, together with its original manufacturer packaging and accessories.

SCHNEIDER KREUZNACH — GERMAN OPTICAL EXCELLENCE

The heart of this system is the Schneider Kreuznach APO-Digitar 150mm f/5.6 N-40° MC, a specialized professional technical-camera lens developed for demanding digital photographic applications.

Schneider Kreuznach has a distinguished heritage in precision optical manufacturing, and the APO-Digitar series represents its expertise in lenses designed for professional digital imaging.

Lens Specifications:

The lens was developed for professional technical-camera applications where precise optical correction, excellent detail rendition, and controlled distortion are important.

Its generous 110mm image circle substantially exceeds the approximately 43.3mm diagonal of a Sony full-frame sensor, allowing the camera to utilize the central region of the Schneider's projected image.

The lens retains its original mechanically operated iris, with aperture settings from f/5.6 through f/32. It does not incorporate a leaf shutter.

Purchased brand-new, this Schneider optical instrument has been subjected only to limited evaluation associated with the development and verification of the photographic system. Its original manufacturer packaging is included.

MY ORIGINAL PRECISION-ENGINEERING CONCEPT

A conventional Schneider large-format technical-camera lens does not provide the integrated focusing mechanism and direct Sony E-mount attachment found on an ordinary interchangeable camera lens.

My objective was to overcome these limitations through a carefully designed mechanical assembly, without requiring a traditional large-format camera body or external bellows.

After researching the compatibility of several photographic mounting systems, I selected genuine Pentax 67 components for their precision construction and mechanical focusing capabilities, together with German-made Novoflex adapters for the camera connection.

The essential components were sourced individually and brought together into a coherent assembly.

The completed instrument was subsequently evaluated to confirm the practical success of the adaptation and assess the Schneider lens's photographic performance. The project achieved its intended purpose: adapting a specialized large-format optical instrument for use with a modern Sony E-mount digital camera through a precision mechanical focusing system.

THE ORIGINAL PENTAX 67 HELICOID

At the center of the focusing arrangement is the genuine Asahi Pentax 67 Helicoid Extension Tube, manufacturer product 37919.

This exceptionally well-constructed Japanese precision component provides approximately 32.2mm to 52mm of variable extension through a manually operated helicoid.

Unlike an ordinary fixed extension tube, it allows continuously adjustable mechanical focusing.

Combined with the selected Pentax mounting components, it provides the principal focusing mechanism for the Schneider lens.

THE CUSTOM-MACHINED BRASS INTERFACE

An important feature of the project is the purpose-made precision brass coupling ring.

This component was specifically machined to fit inside the Fotodiox adapter and provide the required mechanical connection between the front and rear portions of the lens mounting arrangement.

It was not an off-the-shelf component but was fabricated to meet the dimensional and mechanical requirements of this particular assembly.

A REUSABLE PLATFORM FOR OTHER COMPATIBLE LARGE-FORMAT LENSES

One of the most valuable features of the entire project is that the precision focusing and camera-mounting assembly offers possibilities beyond the supplied Schneider APO-Digitar.

The Pentax helicoid, extension components, Novoflex interfaces, and tripod support form a mechanical platform that may be adapted to other suitable large-format optical instruments.

With compatible mounting dimensions, correct lens-to-sensor registration, and any necessary precision-fabricated interfaces, other lenses can potentially benefit from the same focusing and Sony E-mount architecture.

This provides an important distinction between purchasing a single adapted lens and acquiring a carefully integrated photographic platform.

The buyer receives not only the Schneider optical instrument but also the substantial collection of precision mechanical equipment already selected, integrated, and evaluated as part of the project.

TWO FOCUSING CONFIGURATIONS

The design incorporates interchangeable Pentax 67 extension components, permitting alternative mechanical configurations for different photographic applications.

CONFIGURATION ONE — DISTANCE AND INFINITY PHOTOGRAPHY

The arrangement incorporating the original Pentax 67 No. 1 extension tube was developed to enable distance and infinity focusing, utilizing the Pentax helicoid for precise manual focus adjustment.

This configuration formed a central part of the original engineering concept and its practical evaluation.

CONFIGURATION TWO — CLOSE-UP PHOTOGRAPHY

An alternative arrangement involving removal of the designated Pentax extension component was conceived to explore close-up photographic applications.

The interchangeable construction allows the assembly to be configured for different optical spacing requirements.

While the completed system underwent initial functional and photographic evaluation, comprehensive measurements of minimum focusing distances and macro reproduction ratios were not undertaken. No specific macro magnification ratio is represented.

The purchaser receives the relevant interchangeable components shown in the photographs.
