This is a vintage divided back postcard, postally used and postmarked 1909 from Everett Washington. Postcard is an official souvenir postcard from the 1909 Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition (AYPE), Seattle's first World's Fair. It highlights the east elevation of the spectacular Forestry Building, widely celebrated as one of the most unique architectural marvels of the entire exposition. Described as the largest log cabin in the world, the building was constructed primarily out of raw, unprocessed timber to showcase the massive logging resources of the Pacific Northwest. The massive interior housed extensive logging and lumber manufacturing exhibits, a functional fish hatchery, large live-seal aquariums, and an array of Pacific Northwest wildlife taxidermy displays.

Following the end of the 1909 exposition, the fairgrounds officially became part of the University of Washington (UW) campus. The Forestry Building was turned over to the university and initially served as the Washington State Museum (which later became the Burke Museum) as well as the School of Forestry. Because the logs were left unpeeled and untreated, they suffered severe beetle and insect infestations over the decades, along with severe dry rot. Deemed a structural hazard, the building was ultimately demolished in 1931.
