Offering for sale this authentic, vintage A.D. McBurney Super Drill Sharpening Attachment (No. 2). Manufactured in Los Angeles, California during the mid-20th century (circa 1950s), this heavy-duty mechanical jig is designed to be mounted in front of a bench grinder wheel to hold twist drill bits at exact, accurate sharpening angles. The tool features clear preset angle stampings (49, 59, 69, and BB) along the adjustable cast-iron pivot neck to accommodate a wide variety of drill bit tolerances. It sits on a thick, rectangular steel mounting base plate equipped with an integrated positioning slider rail.
Condition Notes:
- Functional State: Excellent structural and mechanical condition. The main feed-screw rod, thumb turn-screws, sliding stop-clamp, and angle adjustment wing nuts all thread, rotate, and tighten smoothly.
- Cosmetic Wear: Shows beautiful, authentic vintage character. The original vibrant red finish remains largely intact but displays expected surface paint loss, scuffs, and minor pitting on the steel base from workshop use and age. Please inspect photos for details.
- Completeness: Includes the base plate, main sliding anchor post, swinging angle channel, threaded depth rod, and bit depth stop. No missing components. Drill bits and original box are not included.
- Please review all high-resolution pictures to evaluate the exact cosmetic condition before purchasing. The tool pictured is the exact item you will receive.
