Up for sale is vintage original oil on panel painting by Canadian artist Jean Guy DESROSIERS (born 1934). This still life is titled “Fruits de Saute” and it is very well executed employing a sophisticated knowledge of light, color and perspective.

The painting itself is measuring about 18” (46 cm) by 8” (20 cm), and the frame is measuring 22 ½” (57 cm) by 12 ½” (32 cm).

The painting is signed by the artist in the lower right corner and titled at the back .

This painting would be a very sound investment and a great addition to any collection.

                              Jean Guy DESROSIERS (born 1934)

Born in Sorel, Desrosiers left early to live, paint and maize a career in the provincial capital. He set up house and studio in Charlesbourg. Like many other Quebec artists (Suzanne Bergeron, St-GiIIes, Rémi Clark), Jean-Guy Desrosiers was inspired by the old town of Quebec. The port, the cliffs, l'île d'Orléans, and all the historical treasures - a veritable trove of subjects.

Jean-Guy Desrosiers attended the Technical School in Ottawa and the École des beaux-arts in Quebec. He teaches art at Patro-Amadour in Quebec. Desrosiers was actually an aviation photographer during WWII but soon moved into the arts.

His compositions are always carefully created. There is an obvious preference

for warm colours. His drawing moves and shows precision even when the artist is exuberant. Desrosiers' scenes are full of light which he reinforces sometimes with more intense bright patches.

He is currently a member of the Charlesbourg Artistic Society and the International Arts Guild of Monte-Carlo. His artwork is represented by more than 20 galleries across Canada, including: Rendez-vous Gallery, Vancouver; Tutt Art Gallery, Kelowna; Scott Gallery, Edmonton; Gainsborough Galleries, Calgary; Loch Fine Art Gallery, Winnipeg; Pacif’ic Gallery, Saskatoon; Westmount Gallery, Toronto.
