A fine QUILOMENE BAR point that measures 1 7/16" long by 15/16" wide. Quilomene Bar points are from the Transitional Archaic period dating in the 2,500 to 1,500 BP range. This type was used as a weapon tip for atlatl darts (spear-throwers) and may have been used on early bow and arrows. Material is a beautiful piece of glossy brick red brown high-quality Agate. Found near The Dalles on the Columbia River, Wasco County, Oregon. This is a fine, classic example. Well made, thin, great material. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me.
Nice collector history here. This point was from the collection of John Sisk of Leiper's Fork, Tennessee (Who's Who #11). It was acquired by Ken Partain of Dover, Arkansas. Scott Swanger of Shelby, Ohio purchased it from Mr. Partain in the mid 1990's and papered it with Greg Perino. He later consigned part of his collection (with this point) to John Byrd of Piedmont, SC. I bought it from Mr. Byrd in 1999, and it has been in my collection since. It is a fine 100% Authentic example of a great point type, and it will come with Greg's COA and my artifact sheet. Buy only real, authentic artifacts!
