Gibson Firebird V (no261016) Used Item The Gibson "Firebird V" is a representative model of the Firebird series, which appeared in 1963. Designed by Ray Dietrich, known as an automobile designer, it features a bold reverse body shape that sets it apart from conventional Gibsons. The Firebird is also known as Gibson's first solid guitar to adopt a neck-through-body construction. A major feature of this instrument is the neck-through construction made of mahogany and walnut. The long center block runs through the entire body, creating the rich sustain and unique resonance that is characteristic of the Firebird. It is equipped with two Firebird mini-humbucker pickups. Unlike typical Gibson humbuckers, it features a bright, tight, and clear sound, allowing you to enjoy a powerful tone from chord work to lead playing. The Firebird V basically features a Tune-o-matic bridge in addition to the orthodox operation of 2 Volume, 2 Tone and a 3-way selector. Specifications may vary depending on the model and year, such as the Vibrola. This is a unique Gibson model with a distinctive look and sound, favored by blues-rock players including Johnny Winter.
