Barbara Appleyard was born and raised in a rural setting in northern New Jersey. After raising her two children and moving to New Hampshire, and more recently to New Jersey, she is fulfilling her life-long dream of being able to devote most of her time to painting art, prints and posters.

She is a self-taught artist, beginning at the age of 55. Her art, prints and posters consist of two major themes, using Folk Art as her style. She paints ocean, seaside scenes and country scenes.

In most cases, Barbara's art, prints and posters do not reflect any specific places, but are created by her, to make it seem to the onlooker that it truly is a specific or familiar place.
