Here I have for sale a exceptionally rare vintage Polistil "High Fidelity Models" Volvo 164 E "Polis" Swedish Police Car diecast model (Series Code: S623).

Made in Italy and dated 1978 on the baseplate, this highly prized emergency vehicle variant comes housed with its original factory cardboard display window box and remains mounted to its inner polystyrene stand card.

CONDITION REPORT

• The Diecast Vehicle: Good original vintage condition. The car is structurally complete and still secured to its factory display base insert. It has been exposed to the elements due to the open box window; as a result, there is noticeable surface dust, storage grime, and fine dirt build-up along the white gutters, window frames, and crevices. The chrome plating on the front grille, bumpers, and hubcaps shows classic age-related tarnish and minor storage wear. The bonnet hinges smoothly to show the detailed engine bay. Not been played with but handled and has definitely aged over the years and has scuffs, scrapes, dings etc
• The Packaging: Poor to fair condition. The original clear acetate window plastic has completely detached from the box frame (it is included separately with old yellowed tape residue on its edges). The outer cardboard display box shows significant structural wear, creasing, softening to corners, and tearing along the top flap opening lines. The inner white polystyrene display card remains intact with its printed lettering. (Please study all close-up photographs carefully to satisfy yourself with the exact cosmetic condition before purchasing).

The luxury six-cylinder Volvo 164 E was famously utilized by the Swedish Police (Polisen) during the 1970s as a high-speed highway patrol vehicle.

Polistil's 1.25 scale interpretation captures this era beautifully. While their sports cars (like Ferraris and Porsches) were mass-produced in massive numbers, the specific "Serie City" emergency vehicles like this Swedish Volvo variant were distributed in much lower volumes. Surviving examples are usually found heavily played-with or missing their delicate roof beacons and fender mirrors. Finding an example that has managed to stay attached to its original packaging plinth for nearly 50 years makes it a highly desirable target for international police vehicle collectors.
