Herpa reproduced this historically interesting Boeing demonstrator as part of its Wings collection under reference 512824.
The miniature is made of die-cast metal at 1:500 scale and carries the registration N76400 together with the elaborate graphics of the original “Leading the Way” aircraft.
Herpa officially records a wingspan of 104 mm and identifies the model as a Boeing-operated aircraft in its 767 series.
Released at the end of 2001 and produced during the early 2000s, this is now an older discontinued Herpa issue rather than a current catalogue model.
Its combination of the 767-400ER, Boeing demonstrator registration N76400 and the short-lived promotional scheme gives it considerably more collector interest than a standard airline-livery 767.
A particularly appealing model for collectors of Boeing house colours, prototype and demonstrator aircraft, special liveries and early Herpa Wings releases.
Boeing is one of the world's major aerospace manufacturers and has played a central role in the development of commercial jet aviation.
The “Leading the Way” 767-400ER was used directly by Boeing as a promotional and demonstration aircraft rather than representing a conventional airline service.
This makes the model especially interesting as a miniature reproduction of a genuine Boeing factory demonstrator from an important period in the evolution of the 767 programme.
