This is a lovely highly collectable Waltham Private Label pocket watch from 1908. This beautiful timepiece has high quality damaskeening engraving on the plates and 17 jewels in screwed in gold jewel settings.
This private label watch is engraved:
MADE BY WALTHAM WATCH CO., FOR HESS & CULBERTSON JEWELRY CO. ST. LOUIS
17 JEWELS ADJUSTED and numbered 17162034, which dates it to about 1908.
It is a size 12 movement as can be seen in the photograph with the micrometer.
The watch is working well, but I do not know when it was last serviced. It is pendant set.
The enamel single sunk dial is marked HESS & CULBERTSON and is in excellent condition with no hairlines or chips.
The open face gold filled case is marked Illinois Watch Case Co. ELGIN U.S.A. BONA FIDE Guaranteed 20 Years and it is in good condition with light wear over the years. There is some brassing on the case edges and on the bow.
