This is a rare opportunity to acquire a VIntage Zeiss Ikon Ikonta 520/14 Folding Camera dating from the mid 1930's, one of the lesser common variants of the Ikonta line. The 520/14 is distinguished by its 5x7.5cm format on the 120 roll film, a size manufactured in far smaller numbers compared to the standard 6x6 or 6x9 Ikontas. This has a - Novar - Anastigmat 80mm F6.3 Lens with Derval Shutter.
PROVENANCE - Photo-Plait Paris
What makes this example exceptional is its documented provenance. Both the camera and its original fitted leather case are makes with the Stamp and retailer plate of Photo-Plait, 37 Rue Lafayette, Paris.
Photo-Plait was one of the most important photographic retailers in Paris during the early 20th century, known for supplying professionals and enthusiasts with the finest cameras of the era. Examples of Zeiss Ikon cameras sold through this prestigious shop and still bearing their makings today are rarely offered for sale, making this piece highly desirable for collectors of European photographic history.
As outlined above, this is UNTESTED. Camera appears to be in good cosmetic condition, especially considering the age of the item. Both pieces (camera and case) have signs of wear and use consistent with the age, but add to the authenticity and charm of the items.
