Nikon AF Zoom Nikkor 35-70mm f/3.3-4.5 N MACRO Later

Overview

A light, easygoing walk-around zoom that rewards a little care: stopped down to f/5.6-f/8 it delivers crisp, pleasing results across a range that runs from wide-angle snapshots to portraits. The 'MACRO' setting is a welcome close-focus bonus, about 1:4.3 at maximum (1:6.7 in normal use at 0.5 m), so it is a zoom that gets close rather than a true 1:2 or 1:1 macro. It needs a Nikon body with a built-in AF motor. The 35-70mm AF zoom dates back to 1986, when it arrived with Nikon's first mass-market autofocus SLR, and this later N version of 1989 carries the same compact eight-element, seven-group design. Small, light and modestly priced, it belongs to the first generation of Nikon autofocus zooms, which makes it an easy way to own a piece of early AF history on a film body.

Enjoy history!

Compatibility

Nikon AF screw-drive lens. Autofocus requires a body with built-in AF motor (D300s, D700, D3-series, D90, D80, D70, D7xxx, F6, etc.). On D3xxx/D5xxx without motor, functions as manual focus only.
