Item Description

GUILD D-55 Natural 1981 #DE101002 (no260930)

This is a Guild flagship dreadnought model manufactured in 1981.
Due to being manufactured approximately 45 years ago, it has weather checking, dents, and a history of repairs, but it has been serviced to player's condition with fret leveling, neck adjustment, and nut/saddle readjustment.

It features a dry sound and robust tone, and its deep resonance from years of playing is its charm. It combines a dignified look that comes with age with solid playability.

It achieves a rich volume with a solid spruce top and solid Indian rosewood sides and back. It features a long-scale mahogany neck, ebony fingerboard and bridge, and is equipped with Guild logo tuners.

It resonates well even with a light touch, and is characterized by a core, rugged tone typical of Guild. The weather checking and the texture of the amber-colored top give it a dignified vintage look.

[Condition Details]
Weather checking and discoloration are visible throughout the body. There is paint peeling on the back of the headstock and neck. The body has been refinished and has had pickups installed, and the end pin has been removed.

There is a repaired crack on the top from under the bridge to the end, and on the left side of the front of the body top (reinforced with a patch from the back). There is a history of repairs to peeling of the fretboard and neck binding, and a repaired bridge (touched up). The nut, saddle, and bridge pins are replaced.

There is tarnishing on the tuning pegs. The neck is straight, and the frets have about 70% remaining (leveled). The truss rod has been checked and is working, and there are signs that the rod cover hole has been reworked. There is no buzzing or dead spots. The string height at the 12th fret is 2.5mm on the 6th string side and 2.0mm on the 1st string side.
