Item: US Army USMC Marine WW1 WW2 M-1910 T-Handle Shovel
Markings: "U.S." stamped on the lower metal reinforcement, and "US" marked again on the middle front wooden shaft. The number "5" lightly marked on the middle back wooden shaft.
Condition: This shovel is in Good Condition. Much of the original OD finish has worn away, though it remains strong on the front spade. Some patina to the metal parts. Some crazing to the wooden shaft. No carrier included.
Historical Background: In the early 20th century, the US Army developed a handy small shovel for digging quick entrenchments. Called the "T-handle" due to its distinctive wooden crosspiece, it was heavily used by US Army troops and US Marines in both WW1 and WW2.
