Original July 30, 1881 business letter on an ornate illustrated Tod House letterhead from Youngstown, Ohio. The hotel was operated by M. Henkel, Proprietor, who is advertised as the Ohio and Pennsylvania agent for the Celebrated Ph. Best Brewing Co.’s Milwaukee Bottled Lager Beer.

The printed letterhead is particularly attractive, with a large decorative “TOD HOUSE” heading and a list of beer agents in Erie, Canton and Sharon, Pennsylvania, and Hubbard, Ravenna, Akron, Painesville, Niles and Cleveland, Ohio. Harry Wilcox and Jake Welker are identified as being “In the Office.”

The handwritten letter is addressed to W. S. Lyman, Esq. and signed Harry Wilcox. It concerns mailing a card and is a nice surviving piece of early Youngstown hotel, brewing, beer-distribution and commercial history.

Original folds from mailing/storage, with light age toning and scattered minor spotting/wear. Please examine photos carefully for condition.

A strong piece for collectors of Youngstown Ohio history, Tod House memorabilia, 19th-century hotels, breweriana, Milwaukee beer advertising, Ph. Best Brewing Company, early lager beer distribution, ornate letterheads and genealogy.

Authentic period piece related to family, history or local heritage - well-suited for historical collections, genealogical /genealogy research, or museum acquisition.  Vintage or Antique.
