Nikon D5500 Red
Digital SLR Camera

Used in/ Shipping from Japan

Overview

The D5500 was Nikon's first DSLR to add a touchscreen interface, paired with a carbon-fiber monocoque body that made it notably slimmer and lighter than the D5300 it replaced despite sharing the same 24.2-megapixel DX sensor. Its vari-angle touchscreen and built-in Wi-Fi were aimed at photographers moving up from a smartphone who wanted more creative control without a steep learning curve. This red-finished variant was sold exclusively as part of lens kits in the Japanese domestic market; no standalone body JAN was assigned. Photographically identical to the standard black model, it offered the same 24.2-megapixel DX imaging and touchscreen handling in a more distinctive finish popular among casual and lifestyle-oriented shooters.

Compatibility

Autofocuses with AF-S and AF-P Nikkor lenses using their built-in focus motor; older screw-drive AF and AF-D lenses mount and expose correctly but autofocus only if this body has an in-body focus motor, otherwise focus must be manual. AI and AI-S manual lenses mount and meter once entered as a non-CPU lens in the camera menu; non-AI lenses mount but do not meter.
