Vintage Brass Carronade Barrel – Model Ship Fitting / Wooden Ship Model Kit Part
An interesting vintage brass carronade barrel, believed to be a fitting or component intended for a period model sailing ship or wooden ship model kit.
This small brass piece has been stored away in my drawer for many decades, together with other items, and is now being offered as found.
During my own research, I have also come across photographs of very similar brass pieces described in connection with ship's maquettes, wooden model ships and model ship kits. I cannot confirm the exact manufacturer, kit or original model that this particular piece came from, so it is being sold as a model ship fitting / carronade barrel, allowing the buyer to make their own assessment.

As this is an unusual and unidentified model-ship fitting, I am also very happy to receive advice or information from knowledgeable collectors, model ship builders or specialists who may recognise the piece or know of other possible uses for it. Any additional information is always welcome.
The piece is as acquired and has been stored for many decades.
It may show signs of age, storage and previous handling, including natural darkening or tarnishing to the brass. I have not cleaned or polished it, so the new owner can decide whether to retain its aged appearance or clean it if preferred.
