Up for sale is a Lid Lock Assembly part number 70902692. These fit many model Thermo and Sorvall Benchtop Centrifuges with a lid error (see models below). This is the older version which we upgraded with some longevity improvements similar to the latest version. Both versions are compatible with all versions of centrifuges. Replacement of the latch is simple, instructions below. Many Lid Errors are just the lid not being lifted by the gas strut off the latch switch - pull up on the lid while the latch is opening to see if error is eliminated. If so, replace gas strut (temporarily place some foam near the latch that gives the lid a little push). Please note that some Lid Errors require a circuit board repair and not the latch, so prepare yourself. We will allow a return if this latch does not repair your issue and thee latch is returned at your cost. We will also take your failed latch in return for $75 refund after return at your cost.
1) After rotor stops spinning, power off and unplug centrifuge, then use emergency opening procedure to open lid by pulling one of more cords. Find on back or sides behind small plastic plug. See last photos.
2) If a refrigerated model, remove 3mm Allen screw from back of narrow side cover and slide cover back and off.
3) Remove two or three 3mm Allen screws from top of front control panel and slide up to remove - be extremely careful not to tug cables. Remove comm cable and panel button control cables and tuck away.
4) Remove two 3mm Allen screws that hold latch to chassis remembering orientation - be careful not to tug cable as you lower out. Disconnect cable. Cut emergency release string\cord near latch (leave lots of length to tie together upon assembly)
