This is a wonderful and collectible job lot of 10 authentic vintage French porcelain Fèves.
Originally designed to be baked inside the traditional French Galette des Rois (King Cake) for the Epiphany holiday, these tiny, hand-painted treasures depict regional French village characters (Santons de Provence). The figures include various townspeople in period rustic clothing, peasants carrying bundles, and village folk in traditional dress.
Due to their charming, primitive style and minute size, antique and vintage fèves are highly sought after by specialized collectors (fabophiles) and are perfect for miniature dollhouse displays, fairy gardens, or antique Christmas nativity scenes.
Dimensions:
Average Height: Approximately 1 to 1.25 inches (under 3 cm).
Condition:
Good vintage condition overall. As genuine, early hand-painted porcelain holiday charms, they possess a beautiful, crude folk-art aesthetic with minor surface paint rubs and light manufacturing variations typical of the era. Please see all photos for clear details.
