Item Description

Vintage Zenith Swiss Open-Face Pocket Watch – Professionally Serviced

We are delighted to offer this exceptional example of a vintage mid-century Zenith pocket watch, dating from the late 1930s to early 1940s. Housed in a robust open-face case, this timepiece represents the peak era of classic Swiss mechanical watchmaking.

Crucially, this watch has been freshly overhauled and fully serviced by the specialist horologists at The Clock Workshop in West Kirby. It runs beautifully, winds smoothly, and keeps excellent time, offering the next owner total peace of mind without the immediate worry of costly maintenance fees.

Design and Dial Presentation

The dial on this piece is outstanding. The original light cream or off-white surface presents in beautiful condition with no hairlines, spiderweb cracking, or enamel chips. It features highly stylized, Art Deco inspired Arabic numerals and fine minute tracking around the outer edge.

The original hands remain beautifully intact. The hours hand and the small sub-dial seconds hand at the 6 o'clock position are in excellent condition. The minutes hand shows some authentic, time-aged patina which adds wonderful historical character and confirms the dial components remain original to the watch. The crystal is remarkably clear, showing only minor micro-hairlines under close scrutiny.

Movement and Mechanics

Beneath the case back rests a beautifully preserved, high-grade Zenith manual-wind movement, Zenith Calibre 19-34-3-T, stamped with the historic serial number 157735. The movement plates feature a striking frosted gold gilt finish that remains clean and bright. The screw heads are crisp, the gears operate effortlessly, and the balance wheel oscillates freely. A regulator index sits proudly above the balance wheel to allow fine tuning adjustments.

Case Dimensions and Condition Report

The pocket watch is cased in a silver-toned base metal alloy with an elegant perlage (engine-turned) finish decorating the inside of the case back.

The overall cosmetic state of this piece is exceptional given its age. The case back is in excellent order. There are some minor, light surface scratches on the bezel near the crown area which are entirely consistent with historical use and pocket wear. As is standard for timepieces of this vintage, it is not pressure tested and not sold as water resistant.  Crystal is remarkably clean and clear.  No noticeable scratches.
