The A-26 Invader, a twin-engine attack aircraft designed and manufactured by the American company Douglas, has demonstrated extraordinary operational longevity. The first units reached the front lines during World War II in 1944, and later variants participated in all major conflicts of the 1950s and 1960s, such as the Korean and Indochina Wars, and even the Vietnam War. The most produced version was the Model "B", which was distinguished by its heavy armament. The closed nose section housed between 6 and 8 Browning M2 .50 caliber (12.7 mm) machine guns, greatly improving its firepower. Due to the Invader's sturdy structural design, the nose could also be equipped with 20mm or 37mm guns, as well as a 75mm howitzer. Powered by two reliable Pratt & Whitney R-2800 "Double Wasp" radial engines, each producing 2,000 horsepower, the Invader could reach a top speed of 570 km/h even at full operating load.
