The other sixteen (16) photos are not labeled, but their content provides some clues.

The scenes include military personnel (either Navy or Coast Guard ?).

They are all from a common developing ‘source’ -

the number “721” is stamped on the back of all 16 of these deckle-edged snapshots.

One of the most identifiable photos shows an interpretive sign

with the heading “JAP FIELD PIECE”.

The artillery was a remnant of the brief occupation by the Japanese Army

in the Aleutians during World War II.

The sign refers to a Japanese 75 mm Gun Model 88 that was

“removed from Holtz Bay” (Attu Island - in the Aleutians).

Another photo shows a group of about 20 men, wearing either Navy or Coast Guard

hats. One of the men has “NORTHWIN_” on the back of his jacket

(the USCGC Northwind was stationed in the Aleutians).

CONDITION

Most of these twenty (20) original photos are in very good condition with light wear

 but no flaws of note.

The 1951 photos (the LORAN site) have scattered creases.

Two of the 1951 photos have ink stains on an edge.

See scans to evaluate more fully.
