About the Can

• History: Courage Brewery was founded in Southwark, London (SE1), near the River Thames. This specific small-format, steel pull-tab can dates back to around the late 1960s to the 1970s. During this era, small "nip" or 1/3 pint cans of light ale were widely used in British pubs as mixers (frequently combined with draft bitter or mild to make a "half and half" or "light and bitter").

• Features: It features Courage's iconic cockerel logo printed on the side in light blue, along with "DISPOSE OF PROPERLY / PLEASE DON'T LITTER" stamped around the top ring.

This can dates from around 1970 to 1978 (approximately 48–56 years old).

• The Pull-Tab Mechanism: The top features a detachable ring-pull tear tab. This style was widely introduced in the UK in the late 1960s and was phased out through the late 1970s and 1980s in favor of stay-on tabs.
