Item Description

GUILD Brian May Special BM02 MH 1994 (no260915)

From the USA-made handmade guitar brand "Guild" comes Brian May's legendary Red Special, a guitar that has achieved an iconic position in the history of rock.
Judging from the date on the truss rod adjustment cavity, it was manufactured in 1994.

A rare Guild-made Brian May Limited Edition from 1994, distinct from the models manufactured in the 80s, and this is the Brian May Special model, one of three versions.
The wood material is a chambered mahogany body joined to a mahogany neck with a rosewood fingerboard using a set neck construction.
The neck features a very wide nut width of approximately 46.5mm (measured), a 0 fret & 24 fret specification, a 9.5-inch fingerboard radius, a 24-inch short scale, low-wide jumbo frets, and of course, BM-style position markers.
The bridge is a stop tailpiece specification, providing stable tuning.

The pickups are three highly regarded Seymour Duncan "Trisonic" style single-coil pickups, delivering a sweet and full-bodied single-coil sound with a strong low end.
The Brian May Special model also incorporates humbucker elements, with the center pickup mounted on the bridge side.
It features an original BM design switch with individual pickup on/off switches and in/out phase switching.
Inspired by legend, this model features a classic natural satin finish, striking looks, superb playability, and an astonishingly rich tonal versatility.

As this instrument is over 30 years old, there are some touch-up marks from paint peeling on the back of the neck, dents, and weather checking throughout. In addition, there is some peeling of the body binding, mainly in areas with a pronounced curve. While there is no damage that significantly impairs the appearance or playability, the exterior condition shows signs of use commensurate with its age.
Currently, with the string height at the 12th fret set to approximately 2.1mm for the 6th string and approximately 1.7mm for the 1st string, the elevation nut on the 1st string side is at its lowest setting, so it is not possible to lower the string height any further at the bridge on the 1st string side.
There is some warping at the base of the neck, and it appears that some leveling has been done mainly in the higher positions, but there are no visible localized fret indentations or wear, and there is still a reasonable amount of height remaining, with about 80% remaining overall and about 60% remaining in the higher positions, so you can play it through an amplifier without any noticeable buzzing or dead spots.

The on/off slide switch for the center pickup has been replaced (the original part is included).

Weight: Approximately 3.37kg
