CONDITION

Pre-owned vintage Omega Genève automatic wristwatch dating from circa 1972.

The movement has been observed running continuously overnight, but the watch has faults affecting the time-setting mechanism, quick-date function and bracelet clasp. It is being sold as requiring professional repair and servicing and must not be considered fully functional or ready to wear.

FUNCTION TESTING AND FAULTS

• The automatic movement was run overnight and remained running throughout that test.

• During earlier testing, the calendar advanced automatically when the hands passed midnight.

• With the hands positioned at approximately 5 o’clock, pressing the crown advanced the date twice. After this, the push-crown quick-date function stopped advancing the date. Pressing the crown now only causes slight or intermittent movement of the date mechanism.

• The hands initially adjusted only when the crown was turned in one direction. During subsequent testing, the hands stopped responding to the crown and do not presently appear to set.

• The bracelet clasp does not latch closed, so the watch cannot presently be worn securely.

• An aftermarket gold-tone crown bearing a bow-tie-style logo has been fitted. It is not an original Omega crown.

The causes of these faults have not been professionally diagnosed. The watch may require repairs to the crown, winding stem, keyless works, calendar mechanism and clasp, together with a full movement service.

No guarantee is given that the movement will continue running or that any currently operating function will remain operational. Please purchase on the basis that professional repair will be required.

COSMETIC CONDITION

The gold-plated case and bracelet have scratches, marks, discolouration and noticeable plating wear consistent with their age. The stainless-steel case back also has scratches and general wear. The dial displays age-related marks and patina.

The acrylic crystal is in very good condition for its age. Circular bands visible across the crystal or dial in some photographs are reflections from the LED ring light used inside the photographic light box and are not damage.

Please examine all photographs and the accompanying video carefully, as these provide the best indication of the cosmetic condition.
